The June 2010 newsletter of the
Solent Club for Amateur Radio & Television

Hello

Well it's finally happened after an awful lot of hard (and sometimes expensive) work by The Team – we hope that you like the initial results.

This edition is intended to advise what is available now and what will be available in the future; we also hope that it will convince you to update your station so that we can change the default to digital reception a. s. a. p .

DTMF:

This essential part of the system is working faultlessly and you need it to access most of the facilities – This is what is available now via DTMF (and * indicates a future facility):-.

DTMF-selectable analogue or digital inputs on both 23 and 3cm plus digital inputs on 70cm. DTMF-selectable A or D outputs on 23cm (with 3cm A & D O/Ps to follow)* You can also select the following (analogue or digital) 3cm/10GHz Rx options for best results:- A 30dB dish permanently aimed at GB3SQ Bournemouth (BB2) A wide beam-width LNB covering the Solent area, (BB3).

Or a 360 degree steerable dish with 30dB of gain (BB4) plus:- 70cm digi receive, beamed North with a French option to follow (BB7) *

There is also a mast head camera with Pan/Zoom/Tilt – giving excellent views across our beautiful. island as far as the Purbeck Hills on a clear day, (or of the local sheep if it isn't quite so clear)!
