In Sync

Solent Club for Amateur Radio & Television

Hello
Yes, we still send out "In Syncs” when we have news for you! These notes have been quickly put together so that you get some essential info before the AGM, so apologies for the random format.
Firstly a quick reminder that the next AGM and surplus equipment sale is on the 20th of this month. We will also be explaining the workings of the (imminent) new repeater and what you will need to get the best from the many facilities, so please don’t miss out – we hope to see you there.
Aerials:
The weather finally relented and we quickly organised a working party and had a successful day last Saturday. Frank’s (G0LFI) cousin Nick did a brilliant job protecting the 23cm aerial frame plus tidying and re-rigging the mast.
The picture shows the motor-operated boom being hoisted into position, Jack's (M1CHO) ladder made this possible.
We had to remove the redundant packet aerials and booms to make space for the new assembly (which will eventually carry a 70cm co-linear, 3 LNBs and it already mounts the pan and tilt plus camera and dish mounting).

A problem that couldn’t be anticipated was that the tower has little torsional resistance, so we are going to shorten the boom to minimise side-shake.
